If they have a list and they could promote any affiliate products they want, why would they wanna sell their clicks for 0.5? Couldnt they promote the products themselves?

I think because they do not have much money for investing on ads, inventory. They just have "running ads" skills.

If their sites are worthwhile they can get a lot more than than ad networks will pay. But they usually sell CPM because there is no realistic PPC/CPC accounting available that is from a neutral arbitrator that can be trusted by both the buyer and the seller.

This ad business is always in the final analysis; EPC (earnings per click) for the buyer of ads or in a seller's case -- EPM (earnings per 1000 impressions). That is all that matters in the end game [IMG]

Webmasters that sell ads will settle for a sure thing -- a steady payout.
